The students of the UAM would like to invite everyone to its third annual performance of “The Sound of Music,” performed live at the Rubén Darío National Theater Oct. 25 and 26th, at 7 p.m.
Although the acting and words will be in Spanish, all the songs and lyrics will be in English.
The classic story, featuring Maria Rainer, a young woman in search of freedom in 1930 Austria, is based on real life. The musical is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.
Thanks to the effort of an excellent artistic direction, the audience will be witness to a first-class musical production that combines the artists from the UAM and special guests such as the Camerata Bach, which will be providing the live music.
“The UAM continues to strengthen the integral formation of its students through the promotion of theater and music as creative forms of expression that contribute to the education of youth as well as their artistic, cultural recreation,” says María Asunción Cuadra, cultural coordinator for the UAM.
Money raised from the event will go to sponsor the social-works projects of “Un Techo Para Mi Pais,” which provides dignified housing to families in need.
Tickets are on sale at the theater, for $5, $10 and $15.
