Beached whale returns to sea

Humback whale was stuck on Playa Tamarindo for five hours this morning

(posted Jan. 25, 4 p.m.)- An adult humback whale was temporarily beached in shallow waters off the southern Pacific beach of Playa Tamarindo this morning, but safely returned to the ocean as the tide came in, according to local media reports.

The beached whale reportedly showed signs of injured from a boat, according to San Juan del Sur’s Navy Captain Hernán Castro, as quoted by Confidencial. However, the whale was eventually able to return to the ocean on its own after nearly five hours of being stuck in shallow waters.
