(posted Jan. 4, 11:15 a.m.)- Responding to a request by the Nicaraguan government, INTERPOL has removed former guerrilla leader Edén Pastora from its international wanted person’s list

INTERPOL said it repealed the international capture order against Pastora last Friday, after learning that he was working on behalf of the Nicaraguan government.

Pastora, 76, was put on INTERPOL’s wanted list in December at the behest of Costa Rica, where the former guerrilla leader was accused of usurping public property and violating that country’s forestry law. Pastora allegedly committed those crimes while working as a dredge boat captain in the service of the Sandinista government.
